Bill was born December 27, 1951, in Guttenberg, IA, the son of Louis David and Jean Kathleen (Palm) Kochendorfer. On October 1, 1982, he married Jean M. Kluesner at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque. They were married for over 30 wonderful years before her death on September 18, 2013. She was his “Peach,” the love of his life, and together they shared countless beautiful memories, including their love for dancing and traveling.
Bill was a 1970 graduate of Guttenberg High School. He became a familiar figure at Clarke University, where he worked as a security officer for 18 years. In addition to his security role, he was highly skilled in martial arts and self-defense, providing private training to individuals for many years. He was requested by the students at Clarke to initiate a self-defense class, and he found great pleasure in teaching it. In 2016, he was honored with the BVM Core Values Award from Clarke University. Prior to his career in security, Bill served as a rehabilitation specialist at the former Chiropractic Rehab Center situated in Asbury Square and was also employed in the physical therapy department at Vita Care.
He was a member of the YMCA for over 40 years, where he embraced a healthy lifestyle. In his younger years, he had a deep love for horses and spent many happy hours horseback riding. He also cherished camping trips with his buddies, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Bill truly lived a wonderful life.
Survivors include his two brothers, John Kochendorfer of Guttenberg, and Adolph (Julie) Kochendorfer of Fort Dodge, IA; two sisters, Susan Meyer and Gina (Dennis) Delaney, both of Guttenberg; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
