Wesley (Wes) Paulson, age 80, passed away August 2, 2025 after a brief illness. Wes was born November 1, 1944 in Bremerton, WA to Paul Emil Paulson and Olive (Brenden) Paulson.
The Paulson’s were some of the first Norwegian settlers of Poulsbo. Wes was quite a little rascal as a young boy often finding himself in all sorts of shenanigans with his brother Harold, the Applegate boys, and his dear friend Frank Poole. Wes graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1963, thriving on the saxophone in the band and baseball. After graduation, Wes joined the US Army and he proudly served from 1965-1971 including time in Vietnam. Wes’ involvement as a veteran was substantial. He spent many years active with the Kent VFW post #6782 where he served as post commander for the 1982-1983 year.
Wes had a strong work ethic and spent many years as a proud union member for Performance Contracting, Inc., spending time working on naval ships including the USS Nimitz and serving as a foreman on sites. Even after his retirement, Wes kept busy working with brief stints at the Seattle Mariners and Amazon fulfillment center.
Wes was the epitome of a family man and friend. He married his wife, Joann Faccone, in 1974 and settled in Kent, WA where they lived in the same home for 50 years of marriage with their children. Wes never met a stranger. He had a hilarious personality known for being a jokester, a geography trivia expert, and being able to break out into any country and western song.
Wes may have left the earth but his memory and generous spirit will live on forever with his loved ones. He is survived by his children, daughter Andrea and son Adam, son-in-law Dan and his treasured grandchildren Madelline and Jake; his sister Maryann and sisters-in-law MaryLou and Jeannie; nieces Jan and Michelle, and nephews Brad and Tony. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold, and wife Joann.
Wes’ celebration of life with military honors will be held Sunday, September 7th at 11:30 am at the American Legion Hall in Kent, WA.
“If love could’ve saved you, you would have lived forever.”
