Violet Rowan
- April 18, 2025

We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Violet (Micki) Rose Rowan on April 17, 2025. Born in Topeka, KS on February 18, 1924, Violet lived an extraordinary life of 101 years, filled with love, strength, resilience, and unwavering faith. She dedicated her life to the things that mattered most to her – her faith, family, and her community.
Violet was a woman of many talents and accomplishments. After graduating from Wellington High School in 1941, she made significant contributions during WWII at Beech Aircraft in Wichita. She was a devoted mother to her three children whom she raised with her former husband, Alan Rowan Sr. Her strong work ethic led her to work several jobs, including at Clark Mfg, Concord Mobile Homes, Cessna, Boeing, local nursing homes, and even providing in-home care and delivering friendship meals. After retirement, Violet enjoyed her hobbies like reading, garage saling, needlework, gardening, and spending cherished moments with her pets. Her love for birds and dogs was well known and brought her immense joy. Her Christian faith was a guiding light in her life, and she was immensely proud to be baptized alongside her twin sister when they were in their 90’s.
Violet is survived by her loving children, Mindy (Stan) Evans, Dwight Rowan, and Rick (Elaine) Rowan; her sister, Viola Patterson; ten much loved grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Royal Horace Sr. Palmer and Etta Ruth Palmer; siblings, Roberta Palmer, Henrietta Reheard, Brig Gen Raymond Palmer, and Roy Palmer Jr.; her daughter-in-law Linda Rowan; and grandsons, Travis and Robert Evans.
A visitation for Violet will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 1-7PM with family present from 5-7PM at Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 1030 Mission Road, Wellington, Kansas, 67152. Her funeral service will take place the following day, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 10:00AM at Grace Calvary Fellowship, located at 305 N. Jefferson, Wellington, Kansas, 67152. Burial will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington, Kansas.
