Veronica Cecilia Weiler nee Oleynichak, age 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 30, 2025, at home in Princeton, MN, where she lived with her daughter, Julie and son-in-law, Bill.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Princeton. Father Kevin Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow at the church. Burial will be at St. Edward’s Cemetery in Princeton.
Veronica, preferring to be known as Roni, was born to the late Vincent and Christine (Krystofiak) Oleynichak on March 29, 1938, in Chicago, IL. She attended Reavis High School in Burbank, IL, and graduated in 1956. Roni married William Weiler in 1959 in Burbank, IL, and they divorced in 1991. She was a homemaker, housekeeping supervisor at a nursing home in Wisconsin, and a purchasing agent for a wire cloth filter company near Chicago. Roni thoroughly enjoyed reading, crosswords, board games and the outdoors–gardening, bird-watching, picking berries and mushrooms, and simply experiencing nature, especially during autumn. She visited New Hamphire and Vermont for the fall colors; saw mountains, glaciers, and endless forests in Alaska; took in the sights at several of Florida’s Disney resorts; saw Washington DC monuments; spent time out west in Texas, Oklahoma, and Utah; made many cross-country road trips to visit family; and felt privileged to spend time watching and helping beloved grandchildren grow up.
Roni was a selfless person, a gentle soul, always wanting to help others as best she could. She felt for those less fortunate or taken advantage of. In addition to donating to many charities, she looked out for friends who could not speak up for themselves. She was a devoted Catholic who never wavered in her beliefs and said a rosary nightly, praying for her family. Family was everything to her.
Roni is survived by her sister, Bernadine; children, Julie (Bill) Staycoff, Jeff (Tokcha) Weiler, Ellen (Steve) Kramer, Chris (Linda) Weiler, Eric (Kristen) Weiler, and Tracy (Mike) Schatz; 17 grandchildren, Jessica, Kimberley, Robert, Courtney, Rebecka, Stefanie, Patrisha, Christopher, Corey, Ryan, Heather, Robert, Christopher, Jared, Gabriel, Haidyn, and Eli; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Anthony (Sharon) Oleynichak; sisters, Anna Oleynichak, Dorothy (Alan) Raider, and Mary (Jerry) Libal; and ex-husband, William Weiler.
