Selena “Kyle” Hollinshead, age 28, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri lost her battle with cancer on September 7, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family and spouse. She fought valiantly for almost 2 years, all the while remaining the beautiful and stubborn person they have always been. Selena leaves behind a legacy of love, and her absence will be felt by her family for years to come. She was born on March 5, 1997, in Springfield, Illinois; the child of Jesse David and Mary Ellen (Bray) Hollinshead. Sibling of Nicolas “Piper” Hollinshead. She married the love of her life, Christopher Gronert, on December 8, 2022 and lived happily with him through her final days.
Selena loved watching horror movies and anime with her spouse. She was a talented artist who specialized in character design and created stories and worlds for all of her many characters. She had a passion for music, especially musicals (like “Ride the Cyclone”) and enjoyed playing video games (like The Sims). Selena loved playing D&D with their sibling, Piper, and husband Chris, playing putt-putt golf and hiking at Ha Ha Tonka.
Selena is survived by their loving husband Christopher Gronert; her parents Jesse and Mary Hollinshead; her sibling Piper Hollinshead; her mother-in-law Jennifer Stark; her brother and sister-in-law Seth and Madison Reckker; her Aunt Julie Mettler-Moad and Aunt Judy Bray; her grandparents-in-laws Chester and Rita Moulder; several cousins; her best friend Hailey; many other relatives and friends.
Selena was preceded by her maternal and paternal grandparents; an aunt; and several uncles.
There are no formal services planned at this time, but the family plans to have a celebration of life in 2026. The family will be planting a memorial tree in Selena’s honor. Please email Mary Hollinshead at maryellennmo@yahoo.com if you would like to be a part of the celebration.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 1270 S Business Route 5, Camdenton, MO 65020 (573) 346-2090. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.hedgesscottmillard.com.
