Valerie Germain

Valerie Suzanne Germain, of Jersey City, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Jersey City Medical Center on October 13, 2023. She was 53 years of age.

Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, she was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy, Class of 1988. Valerie attended Emerson College in Boston, MA and received her bachelor’s degree from Eugene Lang College in New York City. She traveled throughout Europe, then spent a year as a jeune fille au pair in Paris. Valerie eventually settled in New York and New Jersey working at various companies and finding her career niche at The Institutes as executive assistant.

In addition to her sense of adventure, Valerie was extremely talented and creative. She co-founded “America’s Sweetheart” a rock and roll band in which she wrote lyrics and music, as well as sang and played guitar.

She did not have any children, but had a strong link to each of her 6 nieces and nephews.

Valerie is the beloved daughter of Roland and the late Alice (née Laprade) Germain of Woonsocket, RI. She is the loving sister of Lise Anne Grenier of Woonsocket, RI, Paul Germain of Dorchester, MA and Nicole Germain of Cumberland, RI.

Cremation was held privately. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM on Sunday, November 12th at the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Provincial House, 685 Steere Farm Road, Pascoag, RI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Youth Passion for Music, Jersey City or Save the Music Foundation.
