It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tomasa Tirado Mercado, age 88, on May 28, 2025, in Stacy, Minnesota.
Tomasa was born on August 31, 1936, in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, to Tomas Mercado and Clara Ramos. She was part of a loving family, growing up as one of eight siblings in Guánica, PR, where warmth and affection filled their home. In 1954, Tomasa married the late Juan Tirado Lugo, and together they created a beautiful family, welcoming their two children, German and Digna.
Throughout her life, she passionately led many churches in towns such as Ponce, Carolina, and Sabana Grande. Her commitment to her pastoral duties was unwavering, and she cherished the opportunity to uplift and support others.
Beyond her spiritual leadership, Tomasa was an incredibly talented seamstress. Her skill and dedication allowed her to create beautiful garments for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including stunning quinceañera dresses that will forever be cherished.
Tomasa also had a special gift for cooking, preparing delicious meals that brought people together in love and laughter. Her traditional Puerto Rican dishes were a source of comfort and nostalgia for many, evoking fond memories that will always be remembered. As a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Tomasa was a pillar of support during times of need. Each person who knew her experienced her kindness, talent, generosity, and natural leadership in their own unique way.
While saying goodbye is incredibly difficult, we find solace in the belief that she is now reunited with her loving husband, siblings, parents, and friends who have passed on.
Tomasa leaves behind her beloved children, German and Digna; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will hold her memory close to their hearts and miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch with a visitation held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Stacy Lent Cemetery in Stacy.
Con profundo dolor anunciamos el fallecimiento de Tomasa Tirado Mercado, de 88 años, el 28 de mayo de 2025, en Stacy, Minnesota.
Tomasa nació el 31 de agosto de 1936 en Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, hija de Tomas Mercado y Clara Ramos. Fue parte de una familia amorosa, creciendo como una de ocho hermanos en Guánica, PR, donde el cariño y la calidez llenaban su hogar.
En 1954, Tomasa se casó con el difunto Juan Tirado Lugo, y juntos formaron una hermosa familia, recibiendo a sus dos hijos, Germán y Digna. A lo largo de su vida, dirigió con pasión muchas iglesias en pueblos como Ponce, Carolina y Sabana Grande. Su compromiso con sus deberes pastorales fue inquebrantable, y atesoró la oportunidad de elevar y apoyar a otros.
Más allá de su liderazgo espiritual, Tomasa era una costurera increíblemente talentosa. Su habilidad y dedicación le permitieron crear hermosas prendas para sus nietos y bisnietos, incluyendo impresionantes vestidos de quinceañera que siempre serán recordados.
Tomasa también tenía un talento especial para cocinar, preparando deliciosas comidas que unían a la gente en amor y risas. Sus platos tradicionales puertorriqueños eran una fuente de consuelo y nostalgia para muchos, evocando recuerdos entrañables que siempre perdurarán.
Como esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela y amiga, Tomasa fue un pilar de apoyo en tiempos de necesidad. Cada persona que la conoció experimentó su amabilidad, talento, generosidad y liderazgo natural de una manera única.
Aunque despedirnos es increíblemente difícil, encontramos consuelo en la creencia de que ahora está reunida con su amoroso esposo, hermanos, padres y amigos que han partido.
Tomasa deja atrás a sus queridos hijos, Germán y Digna; ocho nietos; catorce bisnietos; y muchos sobrinos, primos y amigos, todos los cuales llevarán su memoria en sus corazones y la extrañarán profundamente.
