Sylvia Jean “Maw” Gladhill, 84, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at her home.
Born January 20, 1941, in Fulton County, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Farnold Mason and Vada Catherine (Seiders) Mason.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer George Gladhill, in 2000.
Sylvia attended Orchard Ridge First Church of God in Hancock. She was employed with Maccafferi Gabions and previously with Helm’s, AC&T, Fleetwood Travel Trailers, and the W. D. Byron Tannery.
In her spare time, Sylvia enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, fishing, camping, and traveling. She cherished her family and loved spending time with all of them.
Sylvia is survived by her children, Rebecca “Becky” Campbell and husband, James “Jim Bob”, Alvin Gladhill and fiancée, Brenda Lake, Debra “Debbie” Gladhill, Matthew Gladhill, Ronald “Ronnie” Gladhill and wife, Andrea, and Connie Gladhill; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 10 sisters; 1 brother; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 11 am at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD with Rev. James Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, MD.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.
