Sonia Medevich

Mrs. Sonia (Jansson) Medevich, 91, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2025.

Born April 27, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Moscolic) Jansson. She lived her early life in Frackville, PA.

Mrs. Medevich was a graduate of Frackville High School with the Class of 1952.

She and her late husband, Mr. Joseph Medevich, were married August 28, 1954 in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Frackville. Mr. Medevich passed away May 29, 2001.

She was employed for 27 years in dress factories both in Frackville and in Waynesboro. In 1990 she began working for the Waynesboro Borough Office as a clerk. She retired in 1996 to care for her husband.

Mrs. Medevich was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro. she enjoyed traveling, cross stitching, and working around her home.

She is survived by two sons, Michael A. Medevich and his wife Susan of Waynesboro and John A. Medevich and his wife Cynthia of Dover, PA; one daughter, Mary A. Tinney of Ashburn, VA; daughter-in-law, Peggy Medevich Saterbak of Fayetteville, PA; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph A. Medevich; her son-in-law, Joseph Tinney; and three brothers, Constantine Jansson, John Jansson, and George Jansson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 19, 2025 in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro with the Rev. Christopher Onyeneke, MSSCC officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.
