Sobriety Checkpoint to take place Friday in Carson City

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint on Goni Rd. on  Friday, August 15th, in Carson City. Our goal is to reduce traffic crashes and fatalities associated  with driving while impaired.

About 30% of all traffic crash fatalities in the United States involve drunk drivers (with BACs of .08  g/dL or higher). In 2023, there were 12,429 people killed in these preventable crashes. In fact, on  average over the 10-year period from 2014-2023, about 11,000 people died every year in drunk driving crashes.

Please be a responsible driver by planning your ride home before you start drinking. Call a taxi, a  ride service, or a sober friend or family member. If you are drinking, do not drive.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will continue to enforce traffic safety laws and educate the public  year-round as part of their commitment to reduce accidents and save lives. Whether you’re the  driver, a passenger, or a pedestrian, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone to make  safety on our roadways their top priority.
