Roxanna Wempen Gallardo
- May 30, 2025

On May 25, 2025 our beloved Roxanna Lynn Wempen Gallardo passed away under the care of hospice. She was born August 5, 1963 in Wellington, Kansas to Karl and June (Mortimer) Wempen. She is survived by her daughter, Jadyn Grace Gallardo, her brother Donnie Wempen and sister Jolene W. Marczynski (Larry), niece, Kayli Marczynski and nephew, Trey Marczynski. Her uncle, JR Mortimer, aunt, Virginia Schon (Rick) along with many cousins and extended family members.
She grew up in the Sumner County Area and attended Argonia schools until she graduated with honors. After moving to Wichita, KS she began working as a legal secretary for Ross Alexander, attorney at law, in 1983 and would work for him for 42 years which demonstrates how dedicated and professional she was. She continued to learn and grow as a Paralegal specializing in Family Law and was able to use her warmth and understanding of what people are going through as a valued asset while working with clients. For the last 6 years she worked with Stacy Ortega at the law firm McDonald Tinker where she was respected by her colleagues and embraced the family like atmosphere of the firm. Many in the legal community are going to miss her.
As a mentor to teenagers in the Al-Ateen program for many years she built relationships with them with her quiet strength. She would provide a shoulder to cry on or just a hug but they knew she would be there for them. She even coordinated a co-ed softball team with her friends and family to give the kids more support and an extracurricular activity.
Her daughter, Jadyn, was her pride and joy. It brought her so much happiness to watch her grow and become the young woman she is today. While her daughter was growing up she spent many hours helping with the Sumner and Harper County 4-H groups as well as the Argonia School PTO. She also served as the bookkeeper for the Argonia Methodist Church over many years. Her service reached throughout Sumner County and she was well known for her go to attitude.
Roxy loved to spend time with her immediate family. She loved cooking as well as taking trips, going to lavender or craft festivals, watching all of the Star Wars and Marvel movies at the theater or just staying home to have domino game nights.
Services will be held Saturday, June 14th, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Argonia Methodist Church, 307 N. Main St., Argonia, KS 67004.
Memorials can be made to: Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS.
