Robert “Bob” Thomason
Robert “Bob” Shane Thomason Sr., 56, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his home.
He was born June 1, 1969. He was the son of Brian and Linda DeSpain. In 1986 he met the love of his life Deanna Lynn Stotler. They later married on April 20, 1988, in Mt Pleasant, Iowa. Together they had three children: Kory (Joann) Thomason of Mediapolis, Iowa, Heather (Jimmy) Nelson of Milan, Illinois and Brittany (Matt Alcorn) Thomason of Beardstown, Illinois. Together they also shared six grandchildren: Elizabeth Thomason, Bobby Thomason Jr. Ella-Joy Thomason, Madison Nelson, James Nelson IV and Adalynn Alcorn.
Bob was one of the hardest working men there ever was, he was tirelessly devoted to this wife of 37 years, a proud father and a proud “Papaw”. He was a loyal son and friend. He was often riding his trike or spending time with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, three children, six grandchildren, mother Linda, brother Brian DeSpain, Pamela Hill, two half sisters Wendy Nobel and Cassie Moser.
He was preceded in death by his father Brian DeSpain Sr., aunt Delores Judd and sister Brandy DeSpain.
Per his wishes cremation has been entrusted and accorded to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Oak Street Baptist Church.
