Richard Lee

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Richard “Ricky” James Lee, who left this world too soon on October 3, 2025. Born on January 31, 1969, Ricky was the beloved son of the late Stanley Lee & Betty Birk (Lee).

Ricky’s passing was sudden, and the cause of death is forthcoming.

A lifelong resident of Rhinelander, Ricky was known for his quick wit, his loyal friendship, and his infectious love of life. Ricky was a man whose life was guided by a deep and profound spiritual nature. He fundamentally believed in the connection between all beings, a belief that fostered within him boundless empathy, compassion, and a tireless desire for peace and justice. This deep-seated connection manifested in his daily interactions as extraordinary kindness, humanity, and wisdom. He approached everyone he met with authenticity and open-mindedness, always seeking to understand different perspectives and values.

For many years, Ricky struggled with addiction, but in recent years, he found a treasured victory in recovery and sobriety. This experience only fueled his innate desire to help others, and he was known to give selflessly, often going without so that someone else could be helped. He was a true friend to all. He was also a natural comedian who thrived on making others laugh, using his quick wit and enthusiastic spirit to brighten every room he entered. He would often say, “I am the funniest person I know. Just ask me”. Ricky loved all and dreamed of one day becoming a millionaire to be able to build houses for those in need, but his true wealth was measured in the love he gave and the generosity he shared with family and friends.

One of Ricky’s greatest passions was the company of his dogs. He possessed a remarkable gift in training K-9’s, a talent for which he had a true specialty. His deep understanding and connection with dogs was a gift that should have been shared more widely with the world. He leaves behind his faithful and constant K-9 companion, Hitachi, who was an essential part of his life. Ricky is now in heaven, joyfully reunited with his beloved dogs who preceded him: his spaniel, Doobie, his husky Spookie, and his two German Shepherds, Max and Murphy.

Another one of Ricky’s most cherished talents he shared with his daughter was his gift of music .He was completely self-taught and could often be found entertaining friends, family, and his beloved dogs by playing his guitar and harmonica, the piano, and the drums. He often wrote his own music, pouring his spirit into melodies and rhythms that brought joy to those around him

He leaves behind his daughter Kellie Ann Marie Snow, who was his greatest source of pride, and an abundance of brothers and sisters; Karen Piasecki, Gary (Rhonda) Lee, Donald (Carla) Lee, Mike (Tina) Lee, Kathy Lee, Tina (Jim) Rappley, Byron Lee, David (Lana) Lee, Butch Lee, Lisa (Kye) Lee, Robert (Jamie) Birk and Bobbi Jo (Perry) Birk-LaBarge, numerous cousins, nieces & nephews, and close friends who will cherish the memory of their sibling and spirited friend. Ricky is preceded in death by his father, Stanley Lee and his Mother Betty Birk.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Northern Paws Animal Hospital to help those in financial need pay for necessary pet services, honoring Ricky’s deep compassion for animals.

Ricky’s memory will be carried on by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Ricky’s life will be held on Saturday, October 25th, 2025, at 2pm at the Hodag Park Pavilion. Food will be catered from CT’s Deli. You may leave your private condolences for the Lee family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Lee family.
