Marnel Commer

Marnel L. Commer, 58 of Springfield, passed away at 2:35 pm, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born November 8, 1966, in Springfield, the daughter of Marvin Eugene and Lula Mae (Cockrell) Smith.

She is survived by four children, Joseph (Sharon), Jovanna, Jodeci and Jonail Commer; eleven grandchildren; ten sisters, Lottie Naudain, Monica Turner, Glenda Holman, Kittie Greer, Shelene (Shain) Ford, Denitta Brown, Yvette McDaniel, Marlene McDaniel, Carlotta McDaniel and Gracita McDaniel; three brothers, Norman (Cynthia) Overton, LeMar Smith and Jeffrey (Tashika) Commer and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lakira Commer and sister, Diane Ewing.

Marnel was a member of Table of Life Church. She loved to play BINGO and worked as a CNA and Homecare provider for many years.

Visitation: 12 – 2 pm, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
