Quintilia Manzanares Mercado
On October 31, 1967, in the city of Zacatecas, Zac., Mexico, a beautiful human being was born, named Quintilia. She was the tenth of 15 siblings, children of Joséfa Mercado and Jesús Manzanares Jacobo. At the age of 6, she became orphaned of her mother, which led her to spend much of her childhood, adolescence, and youth at the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos orphanage, located in Cuernavaca, Morelos, where she completed her elementary and secondary education. Later, she studied high school and earned a professional college degree in Computer Science in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León.
She worked for a few years at the Fray Luca Paccioli University in Cuernavaca.
In 1999, she permanently moved to California, where she lived until her passing. She worked at Berkeley university for several years in different areas.
She is survived by her beloved husband Brian, with whom she shared 25 years, her daughters Cindy and Marissa, and her four adorable grandchildren: Malia 7 years old, Ivy 4 years old, Marlon, affectionately known as Bubba, 3 years old; and little Aubrey, just 17 months old. She is also survived by 10 of her 15 siblings.
On May 25, of 2025; Quinty left this earthly world, leaving us with a great lesson in life. The cancer she battled for 5 long years did not defeat her. With the unwavering support of her husband, and never neglecting her medical treatment, she chose life. She traveled, spent time with family, enjoyed her daughters and grandchildren, sang, danced, visited casinos (it was a joy to watch her play), and to top it off, during her last days in the hospital, she found a way to make the staff laugh. Her spontaneity and spark stayed with her even during her toughest moments.
Quinty showed an authentic personality from a young age. She was mischievous, bold, rebellious, spontaneous, fearless of what others might say, and had no filters when speaking. At the same time, she was the sweetest, most loving, and wonderful person to those close to her.
Today, we celebrate her life, remembering her with joy and gratitude for having left a mark on our hearts. Wherever she may be, she will continue to be the life of the party. Let’s dance, sing, enjoy, and laugh, just like she did.

El 31 de octubre de 1967, en la ciudad de Zacatecas, Zac., México, nació un hermoso ser humano al que pusieron por nombre Quintilia. Ella fue la décima de 15 hermanos, hijos de Joséfa Mercado y Jesús Manzanares Jacobo. A los 6 años de edad, quedó huérfana de madre, motivo por el cual pasó gran parte de su niñez, adolescencia y juventud en la Casa Hogar Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, ubicada en Cuernavaca, Morelos, donde cursó la educación primaria y secundaria. Más tarde, estudió la preparatoria y la licenciatura en Informática en la ciudad de Monterrey, Nuevo León.
Trabajó en la Universidad Fray Luca Paccioli en Cuernavaca durante varios años.
En 1999, se mudó permanentemente a California, donde vivió hasta su fallecimiento.
Trabajo en la Universidad de Berkeley por muchos años, en diferentes areas.
Le sobreviven su amado esposo Brian, con quien compartió 25 años, sus hijas Cindy y Marissa, sus cuatro adorables nietos: Malia de 7 años, Ivy, de 4 años; Marlon, mejor conocido como Bubba, de 3 años, la pequeñita Aubrey de tan solo 17 meses. También le sobreviven 10 de sus 15 hermanos.
El 25 de mayo del 2025, Quinty partió de este mundo terrenal, dejándonos una gran lección de vida. El cáncer que padeció durante 5 largos años no la doblegó. Siempre con el apoyo incondicional de su esposo, y sin descuidar su tratamiento médico, apostó por la vida. Viajó, convivió con su familia, disfrutó de sus hijas y nietos, cantó, bailó, visitó casinos (era un goce verla jugar), y para rematar, durante sus últimos días en el hospital, se las ingenió para hacer reír al personal que la atendía. Su espontaneidad y chispa la acompañaron hasta en sus peores momentos.
Quinty demostró una personalidad auténtica desde pequeña. Era traviesa, atrevida, rebelde, espontánea, sin miedo al qué dirán y sin filtros al hablar. Al mismo tiempo, era la persona más tierna, amorosa y espléndida con las personas cercanas a ella.
Hoy celebramos su vida, recordándola con alegría y gratitud por haber dejado huella en nuestros corazones. Dondequiera que esté, seguirá siendo el alma de la fiesta. A bailar, a cantar, a gozar y reír como lo hacía ella.
Descansa en paz, Quinty, y que brille para ti la luz eterna.
