Barbara Louder

Barbara Coon Louder, 87, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 in Orem, Utah. She was born August 17, 1937 in Provo, Utah to Ervin Arthur Coon and Iona Erma Soulier Coon. She grew up during wonderful times of the “50’s” in Provo with her two sisters and two younger brothers. She was educated in the Provo City schools, and was in the pep club graduating from Provo High School in 1955.
She married Arden R Louder, August 8, 1957 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Pocatello, Idaho, Granger, Utah and built their home in Orem, Utah in 1969. Arden died January 28, 2021.
During school she worked at W.T. Grants and after graduation she attended school at Stevens-Heneger College in Ogden, Utah.
She worked as office manager for an insurance agency for 35 years. She served several years on the Alpine Credit Union board and was president for one term. She and Arden traveled nationally and internationally for credit union conventions.
They owned timeshares at Four Seasons in St. George, Star Valley Ranch in Thayne, Wyoming and East Canyon Resort near Henefer, Utah. They frequently camped in their travel trailer with extended family in many locations where they often golfed.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Barbara served faithfully her entire life. She was a ward Young Women’s president, a counselor in a Relief Society presidency, Ward Librarian and teacher in many organizations. She was always supportive of her husband in his many callings. She was an excellent cook and often worked on ward activities committees and other organizations, preparing meals for large groups.
Her family was the joy of her life and she was loved and revered by her children and grandchildren. Her loving support, encouragement and counsel influenced her family to succeed and to serve and to influence others for good. Her children and grandchildren reflected her love and teachings. She organized regular family Christmas parties, Easter parties, activities and traditions. She was a beloved aunt to numerous family members. She was a memeber of the Les Femmes Ladies Club which met monthly since graduation from Provo High. She organized and assisted in many PHS class reunions. She was a cancer survivor. Her life was filled with service to family, Church, neighbors, friends and community. Her family appreciates the care she received at the Orem Covington Care Center, and additional care with Hospice.
Survivors include daughter: Deborah (Clayne) Grigg and son: Jeffrey (Kim) Louder, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, sister: Kathleen (Katie) Harris, brothers: Paul Coon and Richard Coon. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a grandson, Kasey Woolf and a sister, Lisa Kitchen and brother-in-law, Paul Kitchen.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11 am at the Orem Orchard Second Ward Chapel, 670 East 800 North, Orem. Friends may call at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, from 6 – 8 pm, Thursday, June 12th and Friday June 13, from 10 – 10:45 at the church.
Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem.
