Ora “Ory” Coates

Ora Lee Wade Coates (Ory) 38, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on April 3, 2025.

His family was the most important part of his life. He leaves a total of six children, one grandson (and another due in August). He leaves his wife Jessica Lopez Coates and their children; Jessica Lopez, Janacia Coates (grandson Syncere Sanchez), Jazmine Coates, Jaeden Coates, and two children with his former partner Desere Mendez; Ysabella Coates and Luciano Coates.

He also leaves his Mother Pamela Gow-Goodway and step-father Anthony Goodway, his 2nd Mother Sue Barenholtz, four brothers; Corey Coates, Tobias Coates, Adam Coates and Levi Coates and six sisters; Pamela Mims, Francesca Brown, Savannah Gomez, Antonia Goodway, Crystal Rose and Michelle Riebe Cole, sister-in-law Paula Gross plus numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Patrick Dionne and Katherine Gow, father Cory Wade Coates and brothers Jason Gow and Thomas Brown.

Ory graduated from Flagstaff High School and went on to become a full member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, where he worked for many years as an industrial painter. He also graduated from HVAC school at Pima County Community College and earned a certificate as a Master Gardner.

The Funeral is Friday, April 11, 2025 at Sinai Mortuary, 4538 N. 16th Street, Phoenix, AZ.

Viewing is from 2pm -3pm. The service starts at 3pm.
