Ona Marie (LeBlanc) Bourque, age 90, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Ona was born July 8, 1935, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. She was the daughter of the late Pius and Emilia (Richard) LeBlanc, as well as the beloved wife of the late Clement “Frenchie” Bourque, to whom she was married for 54 years.
Along with her husband, she moved to the United States in 1959 and initially settled in Bridgeport, CT. In 1971, they moved their young family to Stratford, CT, where Ona remained for the rest of her life.
During her earlier years, Ona devoted her time to raising their three children. She then worked part-time at local places like the café at Kmart in Milford and Vazzy’s in Stratford. After retirement, when she wasn’t enjoying time with her family and friends, she could be found outside working in her yard and took great pride in doing so. She would plant and tend to her annual flowers in Spring and Summer, then rake and pick up every single leaf that fell in the yard in Autumn, to then shovel every snowflake off her driveway in Winter.
Ona also took pleasure in going to the casino, whether it was Atlantic City or Foxwoods. She especially enjoyed it when she won money. She was even able to celebrate her 90th birthday there. She loved a delicious meal and going out to her favorite restaurants yet always insisted on her sweets – whether a full dessert or simply a piece of chocolate. She specifically loved her Mr. Big chocolate bars, from Canada, which she savored up until only a couple days before her passing.
Ona’s survivors include her children, Raymond (Debra) Bourque, Jacque (Danielle) Bourque, and Lisa Bourque; her five grandsons, Andrew, Daniel, Kenneth, Nicholas and Gregory; and her two great grandchildren, Olivia and Evan. Ona is predeceased by her beloved Lhasa Poo pup, Ginger.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service celebrated by Deacon John Piatak on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at 11:00AM at the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford.
