Born on Sunday September 18, 1977, weighing in at 6 lbs. 6 oz. Taleta Brooks was blessed to the union of Harvey D. Brooks, Sr. and Virgie Brooks. Taleta was affectionately known as Ms. Lucy or Luchiana. Taleta was preceded in death by her father, Harvey D. Brooks; brother, Michael D. Brooks; maternal grandparents, George P. and Elizabeth Harrell; paternal grandparents, George and Lillian Brooks.

Taleta professed a hope in Christ at a young age and accepted the Lord as her savior at 1st Baptist Church in Cahokia, Illinois.

Taleta was educated in the Cahokia School System and graduated from Belleville West High School in May 1995. Before Taleta’s health failed she worked in customer service, telecommunications and became a real estate agent.

Taleta was married to Leonard Baker in 2002 and to this union 2 beautiful children Craig and Casey Baker were born.

Taleta enjoyed being a seamstress, she loved modeling for her Aunt Jean & with her cousins. Taleta loved music, she loved a good family get together, she loved to debate, to red and watch the news. Taleta loved having Bible study with her Aunt Margaret. Taleta was passionate about her children and grandchildren. Taleta loved to eat, and she loved to laugh.

There were many times Taleta summons her prayer warriors Aunt Margaret, Clee, Yonnie and Erica as they would begin to pray, Taleta would ALWAYS end by saying “AND IT IS SO”!

On Father’s Day Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. sharp Taleta took flight and went home to be with Jesus.

Taleta will forever be loved and cherished by her children: son, Craig Baker; daughter, Casey Baker; grandchildren, Craig Baker, Jr. and Carter Channel Ivy Baker; mother, Virgie Brooks and stepfather Isaiah Radley; brothers, Harvey Brooks, Jr. and Craig Brooks, Sr.; nephews, Michael Brooks, Jr. and Kaden Brooks; aunts, Audrey Brooks, Linda Brown, Margaret (Calvin) Tull; uncles, George E. Brooks, Ronald Rogers, Edward Harrell, Lidell (Betty) Harrell, Leslie Harrell and Lynell Harrell; and a host of special sister-cousins.
