Morris Lester “Butch” Looper, 84, of Green Forrest, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025, at his home in Green Forrest, surrounded by family.

A son of Marion and Bertie Looper, he was born June 6, 1941, in Texas. On February 14, 1999, he married the love of his life, Lola Marlene Ricketts, at Batavia. He was a member of Victory Tabernacle in Green Forrest for many years. Mr. Looper worked as a laborer and tow truck driver for the maintenance crew of the San Francisco Bay Bridge. He loved visiting with his family and was a man of tremendous courage and kindness. He enjoyed the finer things in life, like riding go-carts and racing lawnmowers. He once won second place in a lawnmower racing tournament in his 60s, proudly returning home to show Lola the medal he had earned. He loved to travel and lived life to the fullest, even during times of illness.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rich Looper.

Survivors include his wife and best friend, Lola Looper of Green Forrest; two sons, Bud Looper of Harrison and Chet Looper of California; one brother, Raymond Looper of Harrison; one stepson, Everett Edgell and his wife, Deanne, of Harrison; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Smith Cemetery in Vendor with Bro. Scott Bailey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
