Mitchel Ray Smith, ( Mitch) 71, of Ormond Beach passed into the arms of our Lord on July 12,2025 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mitch was born in Lancaster, Ohio on October 9, 1953 to Harold Richard Smith and Caryl Holliday Smith (deceased). Mitch attended Watkins Memorial High School, graduating in 1972 after earning a letter for playing football.
Following graduation Mitch joined the United States Air Force serving proudly for 6 years as a Sargent,
receiving an honorable discharge. After moving to Florida in the early 80’s Mitch began a career in Cosmetology. In 1991 Mitch richly lived in service and kindness touching lives through his dream job as a Firefighter/Paramedic. Mitch worked for the City of Daytona Beach Fire Department, retiring in 2003. Mitch also proudly served his community working for EVAC Ambulance and the Daytona International Speedway.
Mitch became a beacon of light and hope in our community with his dedication and volunteer work with the Conklin Center, the Blind and the Daytona Deaf and Hard of Hearing Club.
His retirement project was building his beloved Pooh Bear Ranch, rebuilding the country roads with his tractor and sitting on the back porch enjoying nature.
Mitch is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Debbie

Mitch leaves behind many close family and friends
Celebration of Life will be held on August 9, 2025 at 11am located at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church
