Private family services for Michael E. Swanson, 86, of Fairmont, MN, formerly of Trimont, MN, will be held at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, MN, with burial in Palestine Cemetery near Dolliver, IA. A time for remembering and celebrating Mike’s life with family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, MN. Mike passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic Health System- Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN. The Kramer Family Funeral Home of Trimont, Sherburn, and Welcome, MN, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Michael Eric Swanson was born December 23, 1938, in Triumph, MN, the eldest of Eric and Lucille (Olson) Swanson’s four children. After graduating from Tri-Mont High School in 1956, he started farming and served in the National Guard.
On June 9, 1963, he married Lois M. Herum at Dolliver, Iowa, and they moved to their farm outside of Trimont where they raised three children, Jeffrey, Nancy, and Stephanie. They retired from farming in 2002 and moved into Fairmont in 2007.
Mike and Lois travelled extensively, with and without their children. Mike served his community through volunteer roles with Galena Township, Martin County, the U of M Extension, and Waverly Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working with Let’s Go Fishing in Fairmont and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He cherished his family above all things in life. Mike is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Jeff (Amy), Nancy, and Steph Swanson; grandchildren, Dalton and Antje Swanson; as well as his sister, Peggy (Gene) Diercks, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials are preferred to Let’s Go Fishing and Heaven’s Table Food Shelf.
