Michael A. King, Sr., was Born on April 20, 1959, and departed this life peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the age of 66.
Michael was a devoted loving husband. He was the most kind and generous person you could meet. He gave his time, energy, and finances to whoever was in need. He was very friendly; he couldn’t walk by anyone without saying “Hi” or hugging them, Michael loved people. When he met his wife, whom he had thought of often since Junior High. He was the happiest, always saying no one else loved him like she did besides his mother.
Michael worked as a building contractor for 20 years. After leaving there in 2020 he went to work for Lowes. Michael was always the hardest worker in every job he had. He was always called back for additional work, which he always said yes to. He will truly be missed. We will continue to live out his legacy through the love we show and give one another.
Michael was predeceased by his beloved mother, Roberta King, whose enduring love and guidance shaped the man he became. He is also predeceased by his stepson, Calvin Garrett.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Garrett-King. A proud and loving father, Michael leaves behind his cherished children: Cherice King, Andre King, Michael King Jr., and Marc King (LaTonya King). He also embraced his stepchildren, Amani Garrett and Calvin (Asia Garrett), and Cypcyone (Komaine) Johnson as his own. Michael’s legacy continues through his adored grandchildren: Nasir Gouldbourne, Isiah King, Asaph King, Charlee King, Julian King, Zahniah Ansari, Karley Campbell Nuri, Yahsir Gaston, Jaione Martinez, Micah Smith, Maiya Johnson, Amani Hines, Jayden Brown, Marcus Garrett, Jayden Murria, Calvin Garrett, Jr., Quavion Holder, Naveah Johnson, La’veya, and Kaylyn Samuels who brought immense joy and pride into his life. He is also survived by a host of other family members and friends.
Though he is no longer with us physically, his spirit will forever reside in our hearts.
