Sarah Young
- May 15, 2025

Sarah Michelle Young, a beacon of creativity and compassion, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41 on May 10, 2025, in Surprise, Arizona. Born on April 1, 1984, in Binghamton, New York, Sarah’s zest for life and her warm, loving nature touched everyone she met.
Sarah, affectionately known as the heart of her family, was a devoted daughter to Dr. Tamara Redden and her step-father, Franklin Redden. She was the cherished sister of Amanda Porter and the doting aunt to Amanda’s son, Micheal. Her spirit of nurturing extended to her own two beautiful children, Sam and Logan, who were the center of her world.
A proud graduate of North Canyon High School, Sarah’s love for learning led her to pursue and complete numerous adult education courses, enriching both her personal and professional life. Her journey began at Fry’s grocery stores, where her dedication and strong work ethic saw her rise from cashier to department manager and ultimately to the role of store secretary. In this capacity, she was responsible for payroll and a myriad of employee relations tasks, always with a smile and a helping hand.
During the challenging times of COVID, Sarah’s warmth and resilience shone brightly as she joined the team at Banner Hospital. As the first point of contact for visitors, her presence brought comfort and solace to many during moments of uncertainty and fear. Her advocacy for those in need was unwavering, and she organized several successful fundraisers, demonstrating her commitment to community and service.
Sarah’s creative soul was evident in her passion for fiber arts. A self-taught master of knitting and crochet, she carried on the legacy of her Great-Grandmother by learning to knit intricate cables from her books and using her needles. Her handcrafted gifts were not only vibrant and beautiful but were also imbued with the love and care she put into every stitch.
Those who knew Sarah were fortunate to experience her loving nature, her boundless creativity, and her unique sense of humor that could light up a room. She was the friend who was always there to lend a helping hand, the colleague who encouraged success, and the family member who made every occasion special.
Sarah’s caring spirit extended beyond her immediate circle, as she was always eager to help others navigate life’s difficulties. Her ability to listen, empathize, and offer support made her an invaluable confidant and friend.
As we remember Sarah, we celebrate a life lived with joy, generosity, and an unfaltering commitment to making the world a better place. Her laughter, her stories, and the warm embrace of her presence will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire us all.
Sarah’s life was a tapestry of love, woven with the threads of family, friendship, and community. She leaves behind a world that is brighter for her being in it and a legacy that will continue to warm the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In honoring her memory, we reflect on the words that best describe Sarah: loving, creative, and with a unique sense of humor.
She was a light in the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished forever.
