Michael Glenn Iorio
Born December 28th, 1945. Died November 17th, 2022. (Age 76)
Michael passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.
His father was Salvatore Iorio and his mother was Ethel Mae Whipple. He was born and raised in Redondo Beach, California.
Some of his favorite pastimes were boating, camping, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family. One of his passions was to serve others while in service of the Lord.
Michael served in the U.S. Marines from 1969-1975 and served in the Vietnam War from 1969-1970. He received the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in Vietnam. Michael worked and retired as a deputy sheriff in San Mateo County, a job he loved. Even this was an extension of his life’s service.
Michael met the love of his life, Sharon, through mutual friends. They married April 2nd, 1983. Mike brought two children to the marriage: Timothy Wayne Iorio and Tammie (Tamra) Lynn Iorio. Sharon also brought two children to the marriage: Janeen Adair DeSomber and Brenda Scott DeSomber. Michael lived most of his adult life in San Jose, California, except for the last 14 years, which he spent in Palm Bay, Florida.
Michael is survived by his wife, Sharon Ann Chatham-Iorio, to whom he was married for 39 years. He is also survived by his daughters: Tammie (Rick) Rutkowski and Janeen (Ethan) Brooks, along with his daughter-in-law, Juana Iorio, and his grandchildren: Mitchel Iorio, Dylan Iorio, Madeline Iorio, Cameron Rutkowski, Kira (David) Munoz, Amanda (James) Hicks, Joshua (Cortney) Clark, Emily Brooks, Jeremy Lombardi, and Andrew Kesterson, along with Cortland (Bridget) Johnson and Zachary Johnson, sons to Michael and Barbi Johnson. Michael had 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Karl Iorio and James Leroy Hardy, Sr. Michael was also preceded in death by his son, Timothy Wayne Iorio, and his stepdaughter, Brenda DeSomber.
Michael will be missed by all who knew him and loved him. He left a legacy of love, service, and going the extra mile. God be with you till we meet again.
