Richard (Rick) Spence, 74, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at his residence.
Rick was born the oldest of two children to Robert and Barbara in Marysville on January 8, 1948. He worked in the trucking business for twenty years before retiring in 2010.
Rick met the love of his life, Aneita during his senior year of high school. They married on November 27, 1967. Rick and Aneita had their first child, Jolene, 9 years after being married. They welcomed their second child, Ryan 2 years later. He worked hard to make sure they were taken care of and felt loved every day.
Rick wore many titles: husband, dad, brother, son, friend. He would spend as much time with his family as he could. He liked the outdoors, he would take the family camping, fishing, and hunting. He would help his mom as much as he could around her house too.
Rick loved his dogs, cats and any other animals he could find. He always wanted to bring them home. Although, not the best decision, he would sneak whatever he was eating under the table to them. He always said his way of honoring his dogs was to rescue another one and make sure they were spoiled.
He was preceded in death by his wife Aneita, his mom, Barbara, his dad, Robert (Bob), his brother Randy, and many beloved pets. He is survived by his children Jolene Harper (Terry), Ryan Spence (Robynn) and 5 grandchildren.
Aneita Spence (Wardlow) was born in Marysville, and lived most of her life in the Yuba-Sutter area. She passed away on November 2, 2020.
Aneita was born April 6, 1949 to her parents Naoma and Willis Howard Wardlow. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1967. Soon after graduation she married the love of her life, Rick and they were stationed at Maine for a time. They went on to have 2 children, Ryan and Jolene. Aneita unconditionally, unselfishly loved her children and supported them all her life through the many highs and difficulties of their lives.
Of all the jobs she held, her favorite was being a teacher’s assistant for Ella Elementary. She loved working with the children and making an impact on their lives every day.
In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and making items for her children, reading and spending time with friends and family. To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement.
She is survived by her son Ryan (Robynn), Daughter Jolene (Terry), younger sister Lavena, older brother, Willis, and 5 grandchildren.
