Maureen Koecheler

Maureen Catherine (Devlin) Koecheler, of Harrison, New York, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. Maureen was the eldest child of Dr. and Mrs. Paul John Devlin of Bronxville, New York and was 83 years of age. She is predeceased by her parents, Paul and Mary, her brother, Christopher (Jane), and her beloved husband, Gary, who died on 9/11.

She is survived by her two sons, John Edward (Kristen) and Paul Malcolm (Mary Kate), four grandchildren, Caroline, Katherine, Colin and Elizabeth, and her six siblings, Paul (Gretchen), Eugene (Lisbeth), Kathleen Botts (Theodore), Mary Ellen McGuire (James), Patricia Giesen (William) and Michael (Anita).

After graduating Marymount High School, Maureen entered the convent and spent nine years as a Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM). She graduated from Marymount College where she earned her undergraduate degree and her master’s degree in English. While in the Convent she taught elementary school for eight years. After leaving the convent, Maureen became an executive assistant at E.F. Hutton in New York City, and then went on to work for the Committee to Re-Elect the President, Richard Nixon.

While raising her two sons, Maureen returned to work as a successful real estate agent at Julia B. Fee and Houlihan Lawrence in Rye, NY. She served on the Board of Trustees at SUNY Purchase and was a member of the Auxiliary Committee of St. Vincent’s Hospital. She also volunteered for the Twig Organization serving United Hospital as well as the Mother’s Club of Fordham Preparatory School.

Gary, who Maureen, often referred to as the “love of her life” served two tours as a Sergeant – 1st Military Intelligence Detachment/1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Bronze Star. Maureen and Gary were happily married for over 25 years.

As the eldest of eight siblings, Maureen was the matriarch of the family after her parents passed away. Maureen wasn’t just the life of the party; she was the party. Her infectious love of life, her sense of humor and her generous spirit were a gift to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Maureen was particularly apt in balancing her zest for life all the while being a doting mother, mother-in-law and, most importantly, grandmother. Her selfless nature and doting way manifested itself in spoiling her grandchildren. “Mamie” was happiest when she was surrounded by her family in whatever capacity – dinners, holidays, vacations. People gravitated towards Maureen, young and old, everyone always wanted to be around her.

Maureen loved the color pink and requested that her family wear a touch of pink, in her memory, at her funeral.

It was Maureen’s wish that we celebrate her Life with a Champagne Toast at the Westchester Country Club Rye, NY. Therefore, all her friends and family are invited to join us on Wednesday, September 10th between 5 pm and 8 pm.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 11th at 10 am at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY. A Christian Burial will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to one of Maureen’s favorite charities, P.O.T.S (Part of the Solution) in the Bronx, NY.
