Mary Powell

Mary E. Powell, age 85 of Hinckley, IL passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Autumn Leaves of St. Charles in St. Charles, IL. She was born on November 12, 1939 in Peoria, IL the daughter of Lawrence and Edna (Shea) Grebner.

Mary was formerly married to David Engel, the father of her children and then united in marriage to Mr. Richard Powell until his passing. She was a longtime member of the Hinckley First United Methodist Church in Hinckley, IL. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sons, Tom (Jody) Engel of Verona, WI, Timothy Engel of Hinckley, IL and Terry Engel of Sheridan, IL; her five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Bernice (Richard) Fowler of Genoa, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Edna Grebner; her husband, Richard “Dick” Powell; and her daughter-in-law, Melinda Engel.

Services for Mary will be private.
