Mary Gray

Mary Ellen Gray, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2025 at the age of 79. Born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, she was the beloved daughter of Stephen and Delores Gaida, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Carol Jean.

Mary Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband, William (Bill) Gray; her children, Kathleen, Jeffrey, and Mark; and her seven cherished grandchildren: Emilee, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Jacob, Wyatt, Rylan, and Harper. She also leaves behind her siblings—Peggy, Karen, Michelle, and Michael—as well as many dear nieces and nephews who brought her joy.

Mary Ellen married the love of her life, William, in June of 1972. Together, they built a life in Phoenix, Arizona, where they raised their family and made a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth. They also enjoyed time at their beloved property in Prescott, Arizona, where they found peace and connection in nature. Over the years, they shared a deep love of travel and adventure, creating cherished memories together around the world.

Mary Ellen will be remembered for her kind spirit, unwavering love for her family, lifelong friendships, and her gentle presence that made everyone feel welcome and loved. She was creative, artistic, and musical—a lover of books, beauty, and meaningful conversation. Whether through a thoughtful note, a handmade gift, or a shared story, Mary Ellen found ways to connect with the people around her and make them feel special.

Her legacy of love and strength lives on in those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Services will be held at 5:30 pm on July 9, 2025 at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary at 6500 East Bell Road, Scottsdale, Arizona. 85254. A reception will follow at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
