Mark Twain Elementary brings community together with fall carnival, ‘Donuts and Deputies’
Mark Twain Elementary School has been busy this fall, fostering community spirit and strengthening connections between families, students, parents and local partners.
Last week, the school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) hosted the school’s annual Fall Carnival, supported by volunteers from Carson High School’s ROTC, Early Childhood Education, Blue Crew and National Honor Society programs.
Families enjoyed an evening filled with games, activities, food and fun, all while celebrating the importance of togetherness and school spirit.
In addition to the carnival, Mark Twain Elementary also welcomed Sheriff Ken Furlong and deputies from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office this morning for “Donuts & Deputies.” Students, parents and staff gathered outside the school to enjoy donuts, conversation and interactive activities with local law enforcement.
The relaxed atmosphere gave children the chance to ask questions, take photos and explore patrol vehicles while also learning about safety topics such as crossing the street, recognizing unsafe situations and responding in emergencies. Highlights included the K-9 unit, motorcycles and flashing patrol lights.
