Marcia Kemmann

Marcia Lee Kemmann, age 82 of Wheatland, IA, was called home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2025 surrounded by family at Wheatland Manor. Marcia passed from this life ready to embrace the eternal joy and peace of His presence. Marcia was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend; her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Marcia was born on May 29, 1942 in Wheatland, IA, to ‘Tay’ and Evelyn (Dann) Riedesel. She graduated from Wheatland High School in 1960, where she enjoyed playing band, softball and basketball, and participated in the 1959 Girls’ State Basketball tournament.
Marcia married the love of her life, Eugene “Gene” Kemmann on a cold, snowy day on January 27, 1962 enjoying 63 years together. The couple’s wedding car, a 1937 Chevrolet, has since been used in 7 family weddings spanning 3 generations. Marcia owned a beauty shop in her home for many years before working at First Trust and Savings Bank in Wheatland, IA until 2006. Gene and Marcia enjoyed traveling across the US, taking their collector cars on the Motor Iowa and Lincoln Highway tours, camping and canoeing, and weekends at bluegrass festivals.
A dedicated and active community member, Marcia was an active member on various committees in town. Marcia served on the consistory at St. Paul’s Church, the Queen Esther Guild, she was a Girl Scout leader for many years and volunteered with the Wheatland Manor Auxiliary. She also found joy in bowling, baking, Red Cross Blood donor and spending time with friends and family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren watching them grow up together. Her love, kindness, and the legacy left behind will remain in the hearts of our family forever.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Gene Kemmann of Wheatland, IA; daughter Rhonda Carpenter of Grimes, IA; son Dann (Lisa) Kemmann of Prosper, TX; grandchildren Aaron (Mary) Carpenter, Kaitlyn (Dan) Whalen, Kelsay (Garrick) Smitherman, Allyson (Mason) Nutt, Brynn (Josh) Magill, Taylor (Ashlyn) Kemmann, and Trent (Amber) Carpenter; as well as eight great grandchildren Colby, Emily, Cameron Carpenter, Annie and Rhett Magill, Emery and Colter Smitherman, and Kayce Kemmann.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents Tay and Evelyn Riedesel; brother Terry Riedesel; and son-in-law Tom Carpenter.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, in Wheatland, IA, on April 12, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11am with a memorial service at 11:00. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery with a luncheon at church afterwards. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support received by family, friends, and staff at Wheatland Manor. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ or the Parkinson’s Foundation in her honor, or a charity of choice.
