Manuel Machado
Manuel Lawrence Machado, aged 85, passed away on June 22, 2025 at The Open Arms House in Visalia, Ca surrounded by family. Manuel was born on March 27, 1940 in Tulare to Ida Machado (Goulart) and Manuel Cordeiro Machado. He was the only boy. He is survived by his sister Jackie (Mike) Medeiros, his son Brian (Kim) Machado, daughters Deana (Ryan) Rowley and Stephanie (Michael) Davidson. He has 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He also has 5 step grandchildren, and 1 step great grand child.
He attended Wilson School, Cherry Avenue Middle School and graduated from Tulare Union High School in 1958 where he played football, basketball and baseball. He earned the co-athlete of the year award his junior year of high school. He had a passion for sports. He participated in the senior olympics in baseball in St. George Utah where his team took home the gold medal. He worked for his father as a taxi driver, then for Mathis and Bolinger and lastly for the United States Post Office starting in 1965 and retiring in 1999. He coached numerous baseball, softball, football and basketball teams. Manuel volunteered his time posing as Santa Claus and volunteered for the Tulare County Farm Equipment show.
Manuel met his soulmate Gloria Machado at his cousin’s wedding. They married on July 1, 1967 and shared a beautiful life together. They had their first child Richard Brian Machado, followed by their first daughter Deana (Rowley) 2 years later and Stephanie (Davidson) 4 years later.
Manuel was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Gloria Machado less than a month prior, father Manuel Cordeiro Machado, his mother Ida Machado, sister Beatrice Sands, half sisters Dorothy Duggins and Helen Creech and grandson Brandon Machado.
Manuel was a big hearted, loving and kind man. He loved to ballroom dance with his forever bride. Manuel and Gloria had a marriage that many will never experience in their lifetime. They loved to travel together and sit on their back patio nearly every night. We will miss you papa bear!
Joint services with his soulmate Gloria will be held in honor of their love for one another. Rosary will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 6pm and funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 9am at St. Aloysius Church located at 125 East Pleasant Ave., Tulare, Ca.
