Leo Miklius

Leo Miklius, age 70. Beloved husband of the late Nancy, nee Cappy. Loving father of Elizabeth (James) Mainardi, Matthew (Susan), Michael, Christina (Austin) Stonewall, Christopher, and Sarah (Joseph) Uhrich. Cherished grandfather of Madeline, Emma, Nathaniel, John Paul, Julia, Veronica, Isabelle, Cecilia, Judah, Eli, Noelle, Gabriel, Nadia, Cleopas, and one on the way. Dear brother of the late Vytautas and brother in law of George Cappy, Cathy (Phil) West, Mary (Mark) Wozniak and Susan (the late George) Townsend. Fond uncle of many.

Leo was known by family and friends for his strong convictions in his faith, his family, and of course the Republican Party. Everyone who knew Leo likely heard him say grace before a meal, and family get-togethers would have been incomplete without him leading us in prayer while we held hands in fellowship. Outside of the house, Leo worked diligently as a provider, ensuring that his wife, kids, and the weekly church collection basket never went without.

Memories of Leo include being the most-accurate timer at swim meets, not letting his kids wear jeans to church, and bringing home Palermos sausage pizza after visits with our cousins. Intelligence came in spades with Leo, graduating early from college and knowing every move you could’ve made in a game of cards. Kindness wasn’t far behind; Leo always did what he could to bring joy to others, including regularly arriving with doughnuts and other ‘sweetsie colas’. Instinctively, Leo knew his children must be as smart as him and he pushed them to always compare themselves to the best–never settling for ‘good enough’. Ultimately, Leo was endlessly loyal to the people and causes he held dear to his heart. Say a prayer for Leo’s immortal soul and he will no doubt return the gesture ten-fold from Heaven.
