Joseph Pickett Sr.

Joseph M. Pickett Sr., 72, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend whose kindness, humor, and love for his family touched all who knew him. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his unwavering dedication to those he loved, and the countless memories he created with his family and friends over the years.

He is predeceased by his parents George H. Pickett and Margaret A. Pickett. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen M. Pickett; his children Joseph M. Pickett Jr. (Meghan), Amy L. Childs (George), John A. Franconere (Lourdes), and Suzanne M. Petzinger (Scott); as well as many cherished grandchildren, his brothers G. Michael Pickett(Isie), Dr. John Pickett(Barbara), many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Joe graduated from Mechanicville High School in Mechanicville, NY, and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Russell Sage College. He had a long career in telecommunications starting with New York Telephone and later retiring from Avaya after many dedicated years of service. He lived most of his life in the Capital District and moved to Florida in 2006.

Joe cherished his time on the golf course and especially loved annual summer vacations on Wells Beach, Maine. He loved to cook and entertain his friends and family. He was also an avid fan of the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. He loved animals especially his dog Clancey.

The family will honor Joe’s Life with a celebration at a later date, where all who loved him are welcome to attend.
