Jon Rapp

Jon Rapp, a loving husband and father of four, devoted son, caring brother and life-long competitive athlete, passed away on April 26, 2025 at the age of 82. He was born on March 3, 1943, to parents James and Robadine Rapp. As first-born of eleven children, Jon was a dutiful and responsible leader from early on whose life would be defined by hard work and dedication. All the way from his paper route as a youngster to his college basketball years at Regis College, his career in business and manufacturing, and especially on the tennis court, Jon made a name for himself by being an early riser, the last to leave and always putting in extra effort at everything he attempted. Nobody out-hustled Jon.

Jon is survived by his daughters Kim Whitrap (David) and Kat Reilly (the late Mike), his two brothers, Jim, and Jerry Rapp, and six sisters, Joan Meyer (Ron), Joyce Sabol (George), Judy Rapp, Jean Henderson (Joe), Jackie Koprowski (Larry), and Jill Carroll (the late Terry), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Pat Rapp, his two sons Mark and Matt Rapp, his sister Janice Rapp and his very special and beloved brother, Joe Rapp.

Jon Rapp leaves behind a legacy of sharp wit, deep loyalty, and unwavering conviction. He was a passionate Colorado sports fan and loved cheering on the Broncos, Avs, Rockies and his most-beloved Nuggets. Jon always joked that he was a big hit with babies and old ladies – and he wasn’t wrong. He could easily entertain both, blissfully for hours. At 6’6” with a killer left-handed serve, he was an intimidating and tenacious opponent on the tennis court for many. He was a prolific, dynamic and vocal coach for his children’s sports teams (sometimes a little too vocal according to the refs) but he instilled a love of competition, fair play and drive in them from which they benefited greatly.

His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rocky Mountain Down Syndrome Association in memory of Jon Rapp and his cherished relationship with his younger brother Joe.
