- April 30, 2025

John Kenneth “Ken” Carbaugh Jr., 88, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away April 29, 2025. Born November 10, 1936, in Clear Spring, MD., he was the son of the late John Kenneth Carbaugh Sr. and Sarah Flagle Carbaugh. After his mother died in 1950, he was also raised by his aunt, Vernie Carbaugh. He was the loving husband to Julie Eldridge Carbaugh, whom he married on April 28, 1984.
Ken’s early years were spent on his father’s farm in Clear Spring. He was a proud graduate of Clear Spring High School, class of 1954, where he was the reunion committee coordinator. Ken served his country in the United States Army in Germany from 1956-1959. Before entering the service, he worked at Fairchild Aircraft. After a 25-year career at Mack Trucks as a buyer, Ken was a building supervisor at Oliver Homes and a warehouse supervisor with Lufasco Fasteners. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, as he was a dedicated member of Hagerstown First Church of God.
Ken enjoyed repairing just about anything. He was a good conversationalist with a fantastic memory. He was willing to help anyone who needed help. He liked country music and played the guitar.
In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by his daughter, Valerie Carbaugh Reid; a son, Michael Carbaugh and his wife Carolyn; two brothers, Donovan Carbaugh, and Raymond Carbaugh and his wife Gail; three grandsons, Jonathan Reid (Sarah), Grant Carbaugh (Shannon), and Garrett Carbaugh, (Josie); seven great-grandchildren, and a special cousin, Harold Carbaugh.
