Ernestine McCoy

Ernestine ‘Tina’ McCoy, 68, of Dry Branch passed away peacefully on April 28, 2025 after a brave battle with brain cancer.

Born in Charleston on June 11, 1956, Tina was an avid animal lover and especially loved her horse, Shadow. She worked as an office manager in an emergency veterinarian hospital for Dr. Kagan in Charlotte, North Carolina, for over twenty years. Tina was a loving Christian and member of the Dry Branch Independent Missionary Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her father, Ernest Petry and granddaughter, Rachel McCoy.

Surviving are her mother, Margaret Petry of Ronda; devoted husband of 52 years, Jimmy McCoy; son, Jeffrey McCoy of Ronda; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Rodney Robinson of Monroe, North Carolina; sister, Janie Marks of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother and sister-in-law, Simon and Chong Im Petry of Post Falls, Idaho; grandsons, Alex Thomas of Gastonia, North Carolina and Riley Robinson of Monroe, North Carolina; great granddaughter, River Thomas of Gastonia, North Carolina; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the members of Dry Branch Independent Missionary Baptist Church and the Hospice staff for all of their loving care and kindness to us.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Hospice Care of the Dry Branch Independent Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 at Dry Brach Independent Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Jones officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday.

In keeping with Tina’s request, her cremation wishes will be honored following the service.
