Frances Hendrickson

Frances Creed Hendrickson, a faithful daughter, devoted wife, beloved mother, and lifelong volunteer was born on November 11, 1941, in Medway, Massachusetts and died on April 27, 2025 in Morgan Hill. Fran’s greatest joy was found in caring for others. She lived out her faith through acts of love and generosity.

A native of Massachusetts, she drove across the country in the early 1960s along with two friends to start a new life in California. There, she was reunited with friends Joe Sr. and Virginia Hendrickson in LA and then restarted her high school romance with future husband Joe Jr. as he left the Navy in San Diego. The couple was married in 1965 in Bellflower and continued to live in the Southland. During this time Michael and Teresa were born. The burgeoning electronics industry beckoned the family to San Jose in 1970, where Joe worked in electronics manufacturing and finance for decades. Son Wayne was born during this time. Finally, the young family made their home in the small town of Morgan Hill in 1976. The ability to grow things and have some space attracted Fran to South County, who spent her childhood summers on her Polish grandparents’ farm on the outskirts of Medway.

Fran was among the original volunteers for the Reach Out food bank at St. Catherine Church and dedicated more than 30 years to helping those in need. She also spent many years volunteering at Barrett Elementary, assisting her daughter Teresa, a teacher at the school. All the students knew her as “Grammy”.

Fran was deeply loved by her husband of 59 years, Joseph; her sons, Michael and Wayne; daughter Teresa Colbert, son-in-law David, and treasured grandson, Kyle; her sister Patricia McGowan and brother Thomas McGowan of Massachusetts, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Memory Care unit of Westmont of Morgan Hill for their care and kindness to our mom while she was in their care.

There will be a Vigil at Lima-Campagna-Johnson Funeral Home in Morgan Hill on Sunday, May 4th at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church on Tuesday, May 6th at 10:00 AM. There will be a reception immediately following the Mass in the parish hall.

Her legacy of kindness and service will continue to live on in the many lives she so gently and generously touched.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that any donations be directed to Reach Out at St. Catherine’s Church.
