Joanne Werner
Joanne D. Werner of Miami, Florida passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side. Joanne lived a faith filled life and touched the lives of every person she met along the way.

Born 1940 in Brooklyn, New York, Joanne spent much of her childhood living on Ocean Parkway. Joanne grew up in a brownstone with her parents, her brother, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family eventually moved to Miami, Florida, where Joanne graduated from Miami Edison high school and eventually raised a family.

She had a deep passion for anything Hawaiian, was known for throwing beautiful luaus and taught Hula dancing as a young woman. Joanne met the love of her life, Howard, at the Fontainebleau Hotel on Miami Beach. They were married four years later and had three children. Joanne loved hosting large family gatherings serving delicious traditional Cuban and Italian meals.

Joanne will be remembered for her deep dedication to her catholic faith and was a devoted parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church. One of her proudest accomplishments was being a member of the women’s Emmaus Retreat team.

Joanne’s commitment to her faith was matched only by her devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Werner, her parents, Norbert and Frances Garcia, her brother John Garcia, and Grandson Robert J. Baughman. She is survived by her children, Joseph Werner, (Lori); Luanna Baughman (Ron); and Neilani Werner; her adoring grandchildren, Zachary Werner, Amanda Werner, Holli Anderson (Mark), Stephanie King, and Brooke Baughman and 8 great-grandchildren.
