                                                                                            1993 – 2025

Jeremiah John McCarthy of Bronxville, New York, a brain cancer warrior and loving, dedicated son and brother passed away on September 11, 2025. He was 32, and lived a beautiful, fulfilling life with loving and cherished memories.

Mr. McCarthy was the lead of Creative Matters for Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation as well as a camp counselor for several of their summer initiatives including Camp Mak-A-Dream in Montana and recently new locations in Washington and Michigan, and Sister Pat’s Kids Camp. He was an avid runner with the New York City Chapter of Achilles International.

Mr. McCarthy was born in 1993 in Peekskill, New York, to John and Mary Beth McCarthy.

Jeremiah McCarthy grew up in Croton-on-Hudson, New York and Greenwich, Connecticut. He graduated from Greenwich High School in 2012. Residing in Bronxville bordering Yonkers since 2022, Jeremiah truly felt at home and loved the community. He had a natural talent for art, teaching and mentorship.

Jeremiah was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 8 and consistently beat the odds, battling through four tumor diagnoses, reconstructive surgery of the skull and countless side effects. The family would like to thank his doctors and nurses at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone for his medical care and fighting along with Jeremiah.

Mr. McCarthy will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, his resilience, humor, incredible comedic timing and ability to treat everyone with respect. He was a one-of-a-kind person that had the coolest tattoos to represent his brain cancer journey. He loved music and going to as many concerts as he could. Along with his innate talent of art, he had a strong work ethic and loved dogs of all kinds, especially his family’s best and beloved canine companion, Hemingway McCarthy.

He is survived by his parents John and Mary Beth McCarthy of Bronxville, New York, his sister Sarah and brother-in-law Paul Greco, Jr. of New York, New York, his Nanny Joan Hughes of Mohegan Lake, New York, his girlfriend Diana and best friends Kent Reynolds of Greenwich, CT, Mark Magrone of Staten Island, New York and Matt Beck of Mason, Michigan.
