Jay Slaybaugh

Mr. Jay R. Slaybaugh, 83, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025 in Chambers Pointe Healthcare Center.
Born October 4, 1941 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late William Mervin and Bertha S. (Peterson) Slaybaugh.
Mr. Slaybaugh was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1960.
He served in the United States Air Force, stateside for two years.
He and his wife, the late Mrs. Patricia L. (Monn) Slaybaugh, were married March 7, 1964. They were together for 60 years when she passed away May 24, 2024.
Mr. Slaybaugh was employed at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro for 30 years. He retired in 2001. Following his retirement, he dedicated his time to the taxidermy business he operated along with the help of his wife, J & P Taxidermy.
Mr. Slaybaugh is survived by: three children, Ray Slaybaugh and his wife, Leslie of Osborn, ME, Lisa Beltz of Chambersburg and Jenny Schwartz and her husband, Trevor of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Grace Slaybaugh, Dustin Beltz, Jaimie Cooper and Trista Schwartz; one great-granddaughter, Sutton Plank; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian M. McKenrick; one brother, Donald M. Slaybaugh; and half-brother, Richard Slaybaugh.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 25, 2025 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Loretta McClure officiating. Burial will follow in Mont Alto Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
