James Zuraf

James “Jim” Paul Zuraf, 70, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025 at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Born on September 15, 1954 in Buffalo, NY, Jim was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and uncle. He was a career optician, a beach lover, a fiercely loyal friend, and diehard Buffalo Bills fan. Jim had a big personality, complete with a great sense of humor and a hearty laugh. After retiring, Jim worked as a security guard, which allowed him to enjoy many concerts and sporting events. He also played Santa at the mall and at private Christmas celebrations.
Jim is survived by Susan (nee Livingston), his beloved wife of 48 years, loving sons Joseph and Richard, of Chesapeake, VA, brother Thomas (Beth) Zuraf of Knoxville, TN, brother in-law Dave (Debbie) Livingston, sister-in law Carol (Brian) McGowan, and nieces Rebecca (Jim) Hacic, Hilary (Nick) Jerome, and Angela (Kevin) Karas of Buffalo, NY, and Natalie Zuraf and Jacqueline Zuraf of Nashville, TN. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Lorraine (Zajac) Zuraf, and brothers Paul Zuraf and John “Jack” Zuraf.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life in Jim’s honor Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 11:00 am -1:00 pm at the (Blasdell/Lackawanna Chapel) JOHN J. KACZOR FUNERAL HOME, INC. 3450 South Park Ave. where a Memorial Service will begin at 12:30 pm.
