HENRYKA WIESLAWA GRYKA, age 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at her residence in Elmsford N.Y.

She was born on April 9, 1959 in Goleniow, Poland to Stanislawa and Benedykt Szatkowski.

Henryka, known to all as Henia, immigrated to the United States from Poland in 1981 and settled in Linden, N.J.

She opened her first “Polish Deli” store in Yonkers N.Y. and shortly after she relocated from N.J. to Yorktown Heights, N.Y. where she resided until 2023.

Her “Polish Deli” offered a classic and authentic polish food, desserts and groceries. She also extended her business to Mahopac N.Y. where she opened a second store.

Henia knew it was more blessed to give than receive. Her generosity often extended beyond the deli, where she advised and counseled any customer in need. She was a beloved and respected businesswoman in the neighborhood.

In 2012 she was honored as Grand Marshal of Westchester Pulaski Day Parade in New York City.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years Andrzej W. Gryka, her sister Krystyna of Szczecin, Poland, brother Roman and his wife Tenislawa of Goleniow, Poland, brother Vitold of Goleniow, Poland, and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday May 15th, 2025 from 1-3PM and from 5-8PM at Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home, 601 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers NY followed by Mass on Friday May 16th, 2025 at 11 o’clock in St. Casimir Catholic Church, 239 Nepperhan Ave in Yonkers, N.Y.
