Heiner Wolff

Heiner H. Wolff, 81, residing in Poughkeepsie, NY passed away in his sleep at home, holding his wife’s hand, on May 21, 2025. Born in Osterburg, Germany on November 15, 1943, he was the son of Dr. Hermann P. Wolff and Marianne Wolff.
Heiner grew up in Germany and Russia before immigrating to the USA as a child. He graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls, NY. He then graduated from Wagner College in 1966 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. He enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam for one year. After serving in the war, he decided to settle down. On September 27,1969 at Saint Peter’s Chapel in Poughkeepsie, NY, Heiner married Nancy Cwik. Mrs. Wolff survives at home.
Heiner worked for many years as a medical laboratory supervisor at Hudson Valley Clinical Laboratory in Poughkeepsie. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time at his Rhode Island home, going to Foxwoods Casino, going out to dinner, going to the movies and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband who took good care of his wife. He was also a loving father and was adored by his grandchildren. He had a love for history, politics and had an exuberant personality with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by his family.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by his daughter Marissa O’Brien and her husband Tom of Gardiner, NY; son Aaron Wolff and his wife Michelle of Poughkeepsie, NY; sister Heide Rehn and her husband Ulrich of Germany; 4 grandchildren Anna & Thomas O’Brien and Wesley & Lucy Wolff as well as a nephew Mark Schlender and his wife Christine of Germany and a niece Lisa Detharding and her husband Stephan of Germany and their children Daniel, Tara, and Nora Detharding.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 26, 2025 from 3PM-5PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 10AM at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main St, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
