Harvey J. Youngsma

Whitinsville- Harvey J. Youngsma, 93 of Whitinsville, entered into the presence of his lord and Saviour on November 2, 2025.

Born and raised in Whitinsville, MA, he last resided at the Blackstone Valley Health and Rehabilitation (formerly St. Camilus)

Harvey was born on August 24, 1932 to the late Herman and Alice (Jongsma) Youngsma.

He retired from a lengthy career with the Northbridge Police Department. A relatively brief residency in Townsend, MA resulted in a seat on the Townsend Board of Selectmen. He returned to Whitinsville and resided in an apartment at the Whitinsville Retirement Home.

Harvey is survived by his sons, Ronald Youngsma (Jackie) of Chesapeake, VA; Donald Youngsma (Martha) of East Douglas, MA; Jeffrey Youngsma (Debbie) of Calendonia, MI; Jonathan Youngsma of Webster, MA; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his first wife, Anna Stiers, the mother of his children; his second wife, Judy Hill predeceased him, and he was the brother of the late Gordon Youngsma, Norman Youngsma and Ruth Avedesian.

Harvey was a founding member of Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church and maintained his membership there until his death. He loved golf and played in a league into his nineties. His favorite role in life was a father and grandfather. His brand of counsel and humor endeared him to all. Although he will be greatly missed, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and in knowing we will see him again in Glory.
