Freddie B. Jackson was born November 8, 1963, in Beaumont, Texas to the late Charles E. Jackson, Sr. and Barbara E. Williams Jackson. He accepted Christ and was baptized at age 10 by Pastor Otis J. Beasley at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Beaumont Texas. While there, he faithfully served as a Junior Deacon for many years. He was educated in the Beaumont Independent School District and graduated from Beaumont-Charlton Pollard High School in 1982. He attended Lamar University’s Technical College Campus where he earned his degree in Computer Technology in 1984.
In 1987, he married Lynda Willis (Beaumont) and instantly became both a husband to Lynda and committed father to Mark Willis. From his union with Lynda, three additional children were added to the family: Jazmine, Gabrielle, and Joshua. Freddie Jackson was devoted to his family and served them faithfully. After a brief stay in Houston, the family relocated to Austin, Texas and joined Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Round Rock, TX under the leadership of Dr. Ronald J. Byrd. Freddie was ordained as a Deacon there in 1989 and simultaneously served as the Church’s first Administrator for 6 years. In 1995, the family relocated to Plano, Texas and united with the Westside Baptist Church (WBC) under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Blake. The church acknowledged his past ordination as Deacon, and he began to serve the families of WBC. During his 28 years at Westside, Deacon Jackson served faithfully as church Treasurer, Church Administrator/Treasurer and full-time Church Administrator. Deacon Jackson used his extraordinary gifts in planning, technology, and finance to advance the kingdom of God. His tireless efforts with the pastoral staff and deacon council saw the church through the expansion of the former 802 Bellaire Campus, the purchase of 12 acres of land that is the current church site and the building of the new edifice that we now know as 900 Bellaire Blvd. Deacon Jackson served as the Chairman of the first Pulpit-Supply commit during the pastoral transition and provided guidance to the Money Counters and Church Personnel Committee. Freddie’s greatest joy in ministry was teaching the Class 4 Sunday School Class (Transformers) which he did faithfully until November 2023.
Freddie enjoyed a progressive 40-year career in technology moving from the early days of a computer analyst with the City of Beaumont to Senior Manager, Technology at Guidestone Financial Services and Vice President of Technology Integration for Countrywide Home Loans. His career culminated in a transition to Fannie Mae as an Integration Manager in 2017 where he won numerous awards for innovation and customer service. He served Fannie Mae diligently until his health declined in the Summer of 2023.
Deacon Jackson is preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Jackson, Sr. and his brother, Charles E. Jackson, Jr. Deacon Jackson leaves a robust family to love and carry on the legacy of his faith and spiritual values: Lynda Jackson, dedicated wife of 36 years; children Mark Willis (Nieisha), Jazmine Elisha Jackson Reece (Taurion), Gabrielle Lyn Jackson Brown (Maxwell) and Joshua Boyd Jackson; devoted Mother, Barbara Jackson; siblings Michael Jackson (Patricia), Lillian Glaspie (Bobby), Janet Williams (Thomas) and John Derrick Jackson; mother-in-love, Betty Lewis; granddaughters Reagan, Royalty, Wynter, Abigail and Eva; grandsons J’Marquis, Mark Jr., Peyton, Ayden, Major, and Dakota. Freddie’s acts of kindness, generosity and influence will be forever remembered and cherished by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces/nephews, cousins, friends, and the WBC church family.
