Eugene Brown,Jr

BARRE-  Eugene Clarke Brown Jr, 85, of Barre, Clarke passed away peacefully at home on Saturday August 16,2025  with family by his side.

He was born and raised in Connecticut and graduated from Southington High School Class of 1957. Later he attended Iowa Wesleyan College. Clarke leaves behind his wife Joyce (Vining) Brown son Eugene C Brown 3rd (Gene) and his wife Lisa, daughter Elizabeth (Beth) St. Jean and daughter Alison Daniels and her husband John Daniels and son David Brown. He also leaves nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Clarke was a ham radio operator for over 60 years, talking with people all over the world – something he loved and was proud of. His life was defined by hard work, family and a love of the great outdoors. His working careers spanned over 50 years and included time at Northeast Utilites, an apple orchard and ending with work as Purchasing Director and Excursion Manager for the Providence and Worcester Railroad Company. His 30 years on the railroad was the highlight of his working career.

Clarke was also an avid hunter and loved spending time hiking the woods and mountains of New England. He was a member of the Barre Sportsmen Club and always looked forward to lending a hand when he was able. His warmth and generosity will be greatly missed by all.

Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service for Clarke on Saturday, August 30,2025  at 11:30AM in  Glen Valley Cemetery Valley Rd. Barre, MA. after which  are all are invited to Hartman’s Herb Farm for refreshments and family time.
