Ernest Leedy, 82, of Diamond City, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Hillcrest Home in Harrison.
He was born November 4, 1942, in Neodesha, Kansas, a son of Paul and Edna Leedy. Ernest dedicated 25 years of his life to the railroad, where he took great pride in his work and the friendships he built along the way. A veteran of the National Guard, he carried that same sense of duty and discipline into everything he did. He enjoyed gardening, collecting model train sets and old tractors, and spending time outdoors hunting and enjoying nature. He loved music and often played the piano when he was able. His greatest joy came from time spent with family and friends at gatherings filled with laughter, good food, and music. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Cora Lee Leedy.
Survivors include his stepchildren, Everett Bowman, Patsy Spikes, Wanda Bowman, and Stanley Bowman; his sister, Stella Haynes; and two nieces, Toni Medlock and Brenda Haynes.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Scantlin Cemetery in Bradford. Arrangements are under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of Bald Knob. Local arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob, prior to the service.
