Emir Elayda Castillo, age 72, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025.
Born on March 6, 1953, in Iba, Zambales, Philippines, Emir was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, great sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to his family. He loved to travel and took joy in experiencing the world with those he loved. Emir also shared a special bond with his French bulldog, Lau Lau, who brought him constant comfort and companionship.
Throughout his life, Emir worked as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service and American Airlines, and he proudly held a medallion as a San Francisco cab driver. He was respected and admired by all who had the privilege of working with and knowing him.
Emir is survived by his loving wife, Almerita; his daughters, Luvimin and Jasmin; and his cherished granddaughters, Ysabella, Lia, Era and “grandson”, Lau Lau.
A viewing will be held at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary on June 9, 2025. A Funeral Mass will take place on June 10 at St. Augustine Church, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Emir’s warmth, laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
