Duwayne Eugene Lechman, 80, of Sterling passed away Monday June 23, 2025. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm Monday, June 30 at Tennant Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 1 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Ken Koehler celebrating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery.
Duwayne attended schools in Padroni, Atwood, and Sterling. Duwayne joined the Army at the age of 17 and served for 3 years. After boot camp, he served in the 82nd Airborne Division in Vietnam from 1962-1965.
He held many different jobs including a Meat Cutter and Foreman at Monfort in Greeley, a Welder and Crane Operator at Nichols Tillage Tools, and a Welder at Wisdom Manufacturing as well as a Welder on a bridge crew in Wisconsin.
On Jun 6, 1992 he married Beth Ann Kinkade in Sterling. They were married for 33 years before his passing. He enjoyed working in the yard and watching sports on tv as well as racing.
Duwayne is survived by his wife Beth; sister Violet Weingardt; children Donald Lechman and spouse, Shawn Lechman and spouse, Shane Carwin and spouse, and daughter Jennifer Lechman, all from previous marriages; 7 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Barbara Lechman; father and mother-in-law Paul and Margaret Kinkade; brothers Ronald and Donald Lechman; sister Jeanette Loos; sister-in-law Karen Japp; brothers-in-law Adolph Loos, Joe Weingardt Jr., and Melvin Japp.
